Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, The Fearless Freedom Fighter of India.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was one of the great patriots and fearless freedom fighter of India. Even today we all know him by love for his country. This great Indian nationalist was born on 23rd January 1897 in Orissa. The name of his father was Janakinath Bose and his mother’s name was Prabhabati Devi. His father was an affluent and successful pleader.

After the completion of his early education in Cuttack he was admitted to Presidency College in Kolkata but he was transferred from Presidency college for his patriotic spirit. Later Subhas Bose did his graduation in philosophy from Scottish Church College in 1918. In 1919 he went to Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge so that he could prepare for Civil Services Examination. Netaji also stood 4th place in the examination but he was unwilling to serve under the British. From his student life, he had a patriotic zeal, and Swami Vivekananda was his inspiration.

When Netaji came back to India he started the Swaraj newspaper for the promotion of the Bengal Provincial Congress Committee.

He joined the non-cooperation movement begun by Mahatma Gandhi. Netaji worked with Chitta Ranjan Das who was a politician in Bengal. Later he became a journalist and commandant of the Bengal Congress volunteers.

In 1924, Subhas Bose was appointed as the CEO of Calcutta Municipal Corporation and Chitta Ranjan Das as a mayor. Then he was deported to Myanmar.

In 1927 Netaji returned from Burma and found Bengal  Congress affairs in disarray. Netaji was elected as the president of the Bengal Congress after Chitta Ranjan Das’s death. Then Nehru and Netaji became the two general secretaries of INC.

In 1938 he was appointed as president of the Indian  National Congress.

Netaji was removed from Indian National Congress in 1939 because he formulated a policy board industrialization that didn’t match with Gandhian economic thought.

In 1941 Netaji escaped from Kolkata and reached Germany in April, traveled via Kabul and Moscow. Netaji and other Indians used to do regular broadcasting from Azad Hind Radio in different languages such as English, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telegu, Gujrati, and Pashto to urge Indians to rise against the British.

In Singapore he formed the first national army- the INA (Azad Hind Fauj) on October 21, 1943, which attacked British India.

After that he becomes ‘Netaji’ to all the Indians.

According to the Japanese Domei news agency Netaji died on August 18 in a plane crash in Taihoku (now Taiwan). Today after his death of so many years the controversy surrounding the death of Bose refuses to die down. According to some people, he hasn’t died in the accident on the other hand some people say that Netaji has spent his last few days in Uttar Pradesh while others think he lived abroad.

His qualities of character, love for country, bravery, sense of duty, and sacrifice made him a national hero.

His coinage of ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Delhi Chalo’ was taken up by the nation in right earnest.
